Personal success vs helping others achieve WHICH IS BETTER?

We need to earn the eligibility to help others.... help from ineligible person can backfire or be counterproductive.... eligibility comes from proven capability and personal success is what proves capability. Secondly, if helping others is to be done with an open mind and true feeling of generosity, it can only be effectively created once one has earned sufficient satisfaction through personal success.... a failed person would be handicapped in feeling generous and kind in a natural and genuine manner........ on the other hand, if a successful person continues to serve own purposes only, it can lead only to eventual frustration and disillusionment, which means that the cake of personal success must be capped with helping others to make it complete with the necessary icing....... therefore the ideal way in my view is to first have personal success which would give us the true eligibility as well as propensity to help others.
