How to make my mom let up about him...? Ideas?

Wait your 18??? Your mom can't tell you who you can & cannot date? Im 20 & my mother has never told me who I can & cannot date. My mother has given me her opinion about the men I have dated but she has never talked trash about them or call them names because she didn't like them, she simply told me that she didn't like them because of their attitudes or the lack of ambitions he has in life, my mother let me learn from my mistakes I've made, it's how you gain wisdom in life. I now know better than to date a guy without ambitions, & the right attitude about life. Your mother is going way over the line here. I mean I understand you live in her house & you have to go by her rules, but those rules don't apply when your out of the house, at the mall or at the movies she can't tell you what to do because your 18, you are a legal adult. She can kick you out of the house for not listening to her rules but you could always keep lieing to her just so you can see him. & it's not his fault that his parents split nor is it his fault his dad is "lower cl" because my family is lower cl. Your mother needs to pull her head out of her as$ because "poor" people are some of the best people you can meet because their full of them selves nor do they think to highly of their self. Just sit your mom down & talk to her. Tell her you understand that she doesn't like him but that hasn't changed your mind about him, you like him & he's a very nice guy. But tell your mom that your 18 & she needs to keep in mind that dating him is your decision it's not like how it was in medieval times where the parents decided who you were to marry. Your mother should be more considerate about your feelings & how you feel about this guy. Just tell her your going to keep seeing him but you'll never bring him to your house because of how your mother is. Be honest with your mother & how she makes you feel when she talks about him like he's lower than low & you of all people should know better than that. Don't let your mom bash him & talk crap about him in front of you, that's not right nor is it fair.......
