Can anyone tell me about life in Santa Cruz and surrounding areas,,?

I lived in S.C.and north , to Boulder Creek 20 years ago and plan on moving back in April I loved it out there. I need info on housing prices, one bedroom that allows dogs. Also info on good biker and blues bars. Would like to live anywhere between Aptos and Boulder Creek, what area is the cheapest rents? But not slummy.
